David Pydlek

David J. Pydlek graduated from Western Michigan University with a BS in Biology and Chemistry. He spent a few early years in toxicology research and pursued graduate work at The Ohio State University. Like many professionals who began their career in one area and moved on to another, Dave found his analytical training and extroverted personality worked well for him in the business arena.

Dave left the laboratory and joined Boise Cascade Office Products in Columbus, Ohio as an Account Executive. He was a natural competitor and enjoyed sales success, earning many Sales Executive Awards. He gained valuable experience as he helped office products commercial reseller's increase their business. He also gained experience in analyzing reseller's profit and loss statements—gaining strategic insights into how independent resellers ran their businesses.

Dave was influenced by a highly successful Account Executive at Boise Cascade Office Products named Ralph Barnett. Mr. Barnett created the original procurement process model for office products that served as the cornerstone for the industry in the late 1980s. Barnett's training allowed Dave to understand and practice the successful selling of business consumables. His focus was the supply chain procurement process specific to business consumables. Dave also uses Steven Covey's "7 Habits of Highly Successful People" to guide his philosophies toward business in general.

Dave served Boise Cascade Office Products as it became Associated Stationers and later merged with United Stationers Supply Company. His experience included service as a Senior Account Manager (earned top honors as Blue Diamond winner in 1998), as a Business Development Manager for The Order People, as a Regional Alternative Business Development Manager, and most recently, as a National Channel Manager.

Dave enabled new resellers to sell more business consumables as a vertical market to their core business in two industries: Industrial MRO and Forms and Print. Because he understands the industry, its key players, and partnering with key software vendors, his efforts resulted in creation of $6.5M of new business in two years.

Dave's credibility and experience have helped many find success in the selling of office products. He has given presentations at professional conferences at PSDA (Print Services and Distribution Association) and ISA (Industrial Supply Association).
